Anton Robek is a seasoned entrepreneur with a passion for innovative businesses contributing to a more sustainable society. He was a student in environmental sciences at Wageningen University (NL) in the mid-1970s, when climate change was first put on the academic agenda. Now- 40 years later, it has become a real-life challenge for politicians, scientists, industries and NGOs simultaneously working to develop and implement solutions aimed at containing the average global temperature increase to 2 degrees C max.
Today, Anton Robek looks back at 30 years of experience in a broad variety of businesses, ranging from fertilizers to specialty chemicals and engineering plastics, at the Dutch conglomerate DSM ? a global science-based company active in health, nutrition and materials. He assumed global business responsibility and concluded various partnerships and joint ventures in different fields across various regions of the world. His last position at DSM was as President Bio-Based Products & Services, where a/o he established joint ventures between DSM and Roquette Fr?res for the production of bio-based succinic acid (www.reverdia.com) and between POET and DSM for the production of cellulosic ethanol (www.poetdsm.com).
In his current endeavor, Anton plans to significantly contribute to delivering impactful solutions that will help to contain climate change, especially through the development and implementation of industrial sized bio-refineries that effectively convert ligno-cellulosic biomass into biofuels and biochemicals.
